Welcome to this online course!
This course offers a sound introduction to anti-discrimination counseling with a special focus on racism. It imparts fundamental knowledge, attitudes, and methods that help to recognize cases of discrimination, receive them professionally, and, if necessary, refer them to other services. It covers not only theoretical knowledge but also practical tools, reflection exercises, and materials to support work in anti-discrimination practice. Focus: Critical Perspectives on Racism. A central goal of the course is to promote a critical perspective on racism and to make intersectional connections visible. Cautionary Note: This course deals with discrimination and names specific discriminatory experiences, structures, and examples. Engaging with this material can be challenging and may trigger distressing or distressing reactions in some people. Please be mindful of your own well-being, take breaks when you need them, and skip content that doesn't feel right at the moment. Course Development: The course was developed in close collaboration with experienced experts in anti-racism and anti-discrimination work. A heartfelt thank you goes to: Zainab Daniju, Hamza Barasched, Annagreta Dansokho König, and Ali Fathi. A vibrant, ongoing project. At the same time, we understand this course as a "work in progress." Anti-racism and anti-discrimination counseling operates in a dynamic field shaped by societal changes, current discourses, and practical experience. Therefore, we do not claim to be exhaustive. Rather, we aim to consolidate knowledge, experience, and tools and make them accessible to all interested parties. Feedback is welcome. Your suggestions, feedback, and comments are not only welcome but an important part of this shared learning process. We take care not to reproduce discrimination but to critically contextualize and highlight it. Should you nevertheless notice problematic representations or have any feedback, we would be very happy to hear from you. Confidentiality and voluntariness. All answers you provide during the course will be treated confidentially and remain anonymous. Questions in the course relating to personal experiences or your own counseling practice can be answered voluntarily. Sharing your experiences can support the learning process, but it is not a requirement for successful course participation. Your answers are only visible to administrators for evaluation purposes.
