OFEK Hessen – Advice Center for Anti-Semitic Violence and Discrimination
Short presentation
OFEK Hessen is the nationwide location of OFEK eV, the first specialist advice center in Germany that specializes in anti-Semitism and community-based counseling for those affected. OFEK Hessen advises, accompanies and supports those affected, their relatives and witnesses of anti-Semitic incidents and acts of violence. OFEK Hessen stands by the side of those seeking advice and brings Jewish perspectives into the social and political debate. The advice provided by OFEK Hessen is based on the specialist quality standards of professional victim counseling and relates to all cases with and without criminal offenses. OFEK Hessen offers individual counseling, group offers, a nationwide hotline and on-site support.
Our counseling services are tailored to the questions and needs of those seeking advice. The counseling is confidential, free of charge and, if desired, anonymous. The counseling is multilingual and can be used in German, Russian, Hebrew and English. We provide advice in crisis situations and offer discussions on psychological processing of the after-effects of the crime. We advise on legal issues, support in applying for financial support, write statements, accompany people to authorities, offices, the police and courts. We also offer institutions professional advice in the event of incidents and arrange further training courses. Even if the incident occurred some time ago, a consultation can determine which courses of action are sensible and possible.
Counseling young people, families and students after incidents at school or during their studies as well as providing specialist advice to schools, universities and other educational institutions are important focal points of OFEK Hessen's work.
