Basic module: Social positioning, self-care and setting boundaries

This two-day basic module empowers community-based counselors to critically reflect on their own social positioning and its influence on counseling processes. The focus is on examining power dynamics, multiple roles, and the tension between professional distance and necessary community engagement. Furthermore, we teach concrete strategies for self-care and healthy boundary setting to strengthen psychological resilience in dealing with emotional stress and projections.

Note: Participation in this basic module is one of the mandatory requirements for obtaining the certificate for consultants in community-based anti-racism counseling.

Six years after Berlin's State Anti-Discrimination Act (LADG) came into force, Rhineland-Palatinate has become the next German state to pass a similar law: the "State Law for Equal Opportunities, Democracy and Diversity (LCDV)." A draft law is also currently under consideration in North Rhine-Westphalia and is going through the parliamentary process. In Baden-Württemberg, however, a long-standing political process – despite a broad civil society alliance – has failed for the time being.
