Professional exchange on the topic of life: Racist neighborhoods

Date: 03.07.2026 at 10: 00 - 13:00 Cost: join for

Professional exchange Community Counts #1
"That's not racism, you're just being loud!"
Racist mechanisms in the housing context
This professional exchange sheds light on racist mechanisms in the housing context, which often hide behind apparent everyday conflicts such as noise or odor pollution. The focus is on structural dimensions of discrimination and their concrete effects on those affected. Following an expert presentation on discrimination mechanisms in the Berlin housing market, including their legal classification under the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG), practical case studies will be presented. Intersectional perspectives, particularly at the intersection of disability and age, will also be incorporated. The subsequent discussion will involve a joint resource analysis aimed at identifying and strengthening existing support structures. Through collective reflection, practical strategies will be developed to effectively support those affected by racially motivated neighborhood conflicts.
The aim of the event is to raise awareness of racist dynamics in the housing context and to expand knowledge of action using concrete case studies and collective expertise.
